Giving wood waste a second life: Partnership delivers significant environmental impact

Since partnering with Community Wood Recycling in October 2025, we're proud to be making a meaningful difference in how we manage waste wood materials across our operations.

Community Wood Recycling is a network of social enterprises dedicated to collecting, reusing and recycling waste wood. Together, we're helping to keep valuable materials in circulation for longer, supporting the principles of the circular economy and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Since the partnership began, we've:
✅ Reused 2.4 tonnes of wood
✅ Recycled 8.5 tonnes of wood
✅ Diverted 10.9 tonnes of wood from landfill

This has helped prevent an estimated 10,086.5kg of CO₂ emissions associated with landfill disposal, demonstrating how practical changes can deliver measurable environmental benefits.

Beyond the numbers, this partnership is about changing how we think about materials. By treating wood as a valuable resource rather than waste, we're reducing our environmental impact, supporting social enterprises, and contributing to a more resource-efficient future.

A useful way to put these carbon savings into perspective: 1 tonne of CO₂ is roughly equivalent to driving a petrol car for 5,000 miles.

A huge thank you to the team at Community Wood Recycling for their ongoing support. We look forward to continuing our work together and building on these positive results.
