With revenue of £1.1bn & 2,500 people, Galliford Try is one of the UK’s leading construction groups. The business benefits from a strong balance sheet with average monthly cash of £164m, c£50m of PPP assets, no debt and no pension fund liability. Galliford Try is a people-orientated, progressive business, driven by its values purpose to improve people’s lives through building the facilities & infrastructure that communities need.

Its Environment business provides asset delivery capability across the UK, working predominantly in frameworks. Since AMP3, the Group has delivered in excess of £2bn of assets for clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water & Scottish Water.

The acquisition of nmcn Water is consistent with Galliford Try’s recently published Sustainable Growth Strategy, which in the Environment business, targets growth through its existing business, while seeking out acquisition opportunities in existing & adjacent sectors.

As part of the acquisition, circa 900 employees will join Galliford Try, including the senior management team of nmcn Water.

The joining of the two businesses provides a great opportunity for both nmcn Water & Galliford Try. Key among those are:

  • It is a complementary geographic fit that will generate significant revenue growth through established frameworks.
  • It brings nmcn design & MEICA capabilities to Galliford Try which will further allow growth across our Environment business.
  • Galliford Try has robust, mature systems & processes which will add value to nmcn’s operations.

Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: “I am delighted to welcome the employees, clients & suppliers of nmcn Water & Lintott to Galliford Try. This acquisition will accelerate the growth of our successful Environment business, providing work with new clients & increased capabilities. This is a very exciting time as we deliver our Sustainable Growth Strategy & I look forward to a bright future for our collective team.”
